UNIVERSITY Esports Italy proclaims its Split 2 Champions

Italy already has their new UNIVERSITY Esports Champions. The premier esports platform for college students nationwide held the Grand Finals of its Split 2, bringing to close several weeks of high competitive level. Two winning teams reached glory, successfully overcoming all their rivals during the previous phases and doing their best until the end of the tournament.

‘Sapienza’ (from University of Sapienza) achieved their second consecutive win in a VALORANT Grand Final. For its part, ‘PesiGod’ (from Politecnico Milano) defeated their opponents in League of Legends to become Champions again, after their last championship title in 2023.

The excitement in the Grand Finals of the UNIVERSITY Esports Split 2 was transmitted through the voices of Gioi, Pablo and Jokah on the microphones. The two decisive clashes were streamed on the official Twitch channel of the competition (twitch.tv/uniesports_it).

Details of the Grand Finals

The Grand Finals of the UNIVERSITY Esports left some memorable moments for the participating players, who held nothing back to achieve victory.

‘Sapienza’ didn’t miss out on the opportunity to get its second championship title this season. The Roman team, also winners in the first Split last December, consolidated this position as the best VALORANT team during this academic year. They beat ‘UniPizza’, a squad composed of students from the University of Pisa, by a clear score of 2-0.

As for League of Legends, ‘PesiGod’ emerged victorious in their particular rematch versus the guys of ‘IMPACT Unina’ (from University of Naples Federico II). The squad of Politecnico Milano showed great integrity and ambition to overcome their rivals (2-0), whom they had already faced off during the Split 1 Grand Finals, but with an absolutely different score.

Beyond competition

UNIVERSITY Esports, a grassroots esports organiser in Italy operated by GGTech Entertainment and ProGaming Italia, is about much more than just online competition, and also plays a big role in fostering communities and providing career opportunities and education. During the 2024/25 season, the initiative is supported by Samsung Electronics Italia and Riot Games.

UNIVERSITY Tour, an in-person series of events aimed at raising awareness of the esports community and building real-life connections between players, has returned during the Split 2 of UNIVERSITY Esports. The city of Milan will be the next destination of this initiative this week. On Friday 11th April, hundreds of students from the University of Milano-Bicocca will engage about the benefits of participating in the esports community both professionally and to have fun.
