UNIVERSITY Esports kicks off competition with Intel’s entry into the project in Europe

  • Intel becomes the official processor that will support UNIVERSITY Esports this season in Spain, Italy, France, Germany and the UK & Ireland.
  • The project will have an extensive on-site presence through UNIVERSITY Tour, visiting university campuses across the European countries involved and bringing the benefits of esports and different experiences for students.

The leading esports, technology and education project developed for university students around the world returns to Europe with a new season. University pupils from all over the country may be part of UNIVERSITY Esports, which is back with new competitions and educational experiences for participants in this 2024/25 edition.

The new season of UNIVERSITY Esports has begun in several European countries with the start of the competition. The aim of the project is to promote the involvement of students in the esports sector through competition, education and job opportunities, while offering fun and entertainment thanks to the different activities that are part of the project.

Moreover, Intel joins UNIVERSITY Esports this season in Spain, Italy, France, Germany and the UK & Ireland, becoming its official processor. The project is also supported by elite partners as Riot Games, one of the most important video games developers worldwide.

Visiting universities across Europe

UNIVERSITY Esports is committed to providing students with an educational and entertaining experience around gaming. This 2024/25 season, the project will have an extensive face-to-face presence through UNIVERSITY Tour and will visit multiple university campuses in Europe to make the project known among the academic communities. In doing so, students will discover the benefits of esports for their professional and personal development and will enjoy competing and playing video games with their friends.

Competition details

League of Legends, VALORANT and Overwatch 2 are some of the available games for European participants this 2024/25 season. Students will be able to compete in the tournaments of these titles currently underway. The first split of UNIVERSITY Esports will be online and the Finals can be followed live through the official Twitch channel of the competition.

Young people are gamers

College students, integrated within Generation Z, have an undeniable interest in gaming, which is positioned as one of the fastest growing forms of entertainment globally. According to different international studies, young people represent around one third of the world’s population and their influence on the industry is becoming important. It is estimated that more than 3 billion people will be gamers in 2025 worldwide.
